From the President

Welcome to ECG.

We are an organization rooted in the economic opportunity of cities. We have a rich history in Georgia’s communities, helping build the infrastructure that enhances their abilities to compete for business and industry as well as building a standard of living that makes desirable places for people to live and work.

Our participants have not been untouched by recent economic downturns.  The slow economy has had an impact on electric and natural gas demand.  Municipal budgets have been strained for infrastructure improvements in water and sewer systems. Expansion of these utility systems has abated and locating new industry into our communities has slowed.

The good news is that as the economy improves, utilities will play a critical role in the recovery. Our communities' economic development and utility professionals are staying focused on what they can control and in so doing, they are defining their futures.

Utilities must focus on the core business objective: to deliver a competitively priced and reliable product. We also monitor trends in green initiatives, and we certainly are experiencing the pressures for increasingly intelligent electric distribution networks.

ECG has honed our service offerings and we are well-positioned to serve local governments. We anticipate new opportunities as the economy revives; we already see signs of growth.  In recent months, we have expanded one facet of our service offerings south of Georgia’s borders to municipalities in Florida.

We appreciate our participants, partners and allies, and we are looking forward to a prosperous 2012.

 President & CEO

About Us

ECG is the restructured and retooled service organization formerly known as Electric Cities of Georgia.  ECG is a bold business concept that brings together 25 years of economic development experience with 30 years of know-how in city-owned utility operations and marketing. Location Georgia, an economic development organization, joined ranks with two business units formerly of MEAG Power, Distribution Services and Marketing Services.

The local governments we serve look to us for electric lineman training, cost-of-service studies, pricing on new electric loads, energy   audits, technical assistance on operations and economic development, strategic planning, team building and software solutions for work orders and inventory management.

We currently provide services to 51 Georgia communities and 12 electric utility system operations in Florida through Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA).
